So not a muscle strain then. I wonder if you trapped a nerve or have some inflammation around a disc? Does it only hurt badly when in one position/type of position? What happens when you stretch, does it feel better?

Less is more in this case. Rest.

Ibruprofen (medicine) or Bryonia 6 (Homeopathy) are good for inflammation.

JMac- not sure! it hurts again this morning...going to try ice and ibruprofen again today...when stretch it doesnt hurt and doesnt help..agree i think its gotta be rest

Keep icing. Give the back a break from running and when you hit the pavement again don't push it for awhile.

You will be good in a couple weeks. I agree don't think about it :)

Still impressed with the swim, great numbers man. How have the tunes been in the water? Was it worth the $$$?

focus on core and glutes at the gym. If you can strengthen those it helps take the load of the back. aslo stretch a lot of the nike, the positioning on the bike to the run is a lot of muscle contrast and can cause back issues(from experience) Hope it is better soon!
